SERIOUS ABOUT SKITTLES EVENTS
Julie and I have returned from a skittles weekend in Hayling Island where 36 teams took part one of the regular 'Skittles Shoot-outs' arranged by Serious About Events.
They use portable alleys about two thirds the length of ours, then you have a run-up area, then a ball pitching area, and the skittles are slightly closer together than ours.
Flat alley and solid rubber balls like ours. So you can imagine it is easier to play - but great fun. Ten in a team and you have five alleys. This year's the highest
score in the finals was 455 - YES 455. It isn't uncommon to get alleys of 100+. Julie and I guested for a team from Dorset as they were a couple short, and thoroughly
enjoyed the whole weekend. Food and entertainment (and beer) excellent.
I would really like to take a team up from Dover next year, so have a think about it and let's give it a go. The leaflet below shows what you get for your money. The dates next
year (for Hayling Island) are 24-26 March and they are advertising the cost as £184 per person, but this will reduce if they don't have to run a coach for us.
The organisers have pencilled in a reserved place for us, so I will need to know by late summer whether we are going - please let us know if you are up for it.
